WHERE:

All evaluations on both Saturday and Sunday March 3 & 4 will be in the DePaolo Middle School Gym (385 Pleasant Street, Southington, CT)

WHY:

Player evaluations are required pursuant to Little League Rules to provide an equitable distribution of players.  Players must attend at least 50% of tryouts or they will default to the league division required by our local bylaws; however, it is strongly encouraged that players attend both days.  Additional information is available on our website at www.southingtonnorth.org or by contacting our Player Agent, Missi Pagano (missipags@gmail.com)

WHAT TO BRING:

Players should wear gym style clothing including sneakers.  Absolutely no cleats as tryouts will be on gym floor and the cleaner the sneakers the better.  Players need to bring a baseball glove and may bring batting gloves, bags, water bottles, or other baseball related items.  Please no food or open containers.  PLEASE DO NOT BRING BATS as only wood bats will be used for evaluations.  Please do not bring Bats or baseballs, as the league for use will provide them.

WHAT NOT TO BRING:

Please note that only players and evaluators will be allowed in the gym during the evaluations.  No parents will be permitted in the gym during the evaluations.  Please do not bring aluminum/composite bats, as they are not permitted in the gym.  Only wood bats will be used.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

Parents/players need to register at the door and will be assigned a number to wear over their clothes during the evaluations. The numbered pinny is to be returned at the end of that day’s evaluations but the same one will be provided for Sunday.  Please make sure to return them.

Players will participate in the following drills:

1. Field Ground Balls

2. Running bases

3. Batting

4. Pitching

5. Catching fly balls

Once the evaluation session is complete (approximately 60 minutes) players will be dismissed by a volunteer to a parent. Please remember to return the pinny.

Evaluators will perform evaluations during the sessions and provide input to the player agent.  The Majors teams will be selected via a draft process (see local by laws for details).  The Minors, Farm and T-Ball rosters will be assembled by the Player Agent. Evening.  All players participating in evaluations will be notified of their team by a coach within 1 week of the evaluations.
